Testing Times

Juniors, listen up. (Freshmen and sophomores - you should probably hear this too). While some schools are still “test optional” the trend seems to be pointing toward “test required”, as schools are starting to change their policies. Don’t wait until fall of your senior year to find out your top schools are now requiring test scores!

If you’re a Sophomore and take the PSAT at school, your score is a good indicator of how you will perform on the SAT. Don’t like your score? Set aside 30 minutes a few nights a week, or an hour on Saturday mornings to use the many free testing prep websites to prepare for the test. You can raise your score by 100 points with minimal studying!

If you want to re-test, be sure to leave enough time before applications are due - especially early admission applications.

If you scored so-so on the PSAT or even your first pass on the SAT, and can’t stand the thought of sitting for it again, take the ACT. It’s a different kind of test, one that helps many students shine compared to the SAT.

It’s like those teachers that offer extra credit. Always take it. Take the test and submit your scores. It could be the factor that sets you apart from other qualified students.
